Last night on the news they were saying that if Obama wins out, but only wins 55/45 in each of the states (which is improbable, considering he has been winning by such large margins, but bear with me) that he still wouldn't reach the necessary amount of delegates to officially win.

What would happen in this case? If neither Hillary or Obama got enough total delegates?

The nomination would ultimately be up to the Democratic Party's "super delegates" -- governors, former presidents, congressmen, and other Democratic leaders who are given a vote at the National Convention.

Although most super delegates have yet to declare who they are supporting, it is assumed the Hillary has most of the "establishment" support and therefore most of the super delegates.
