Why the right HATES John McCain

"I would vote for the Devil over John McCain, thus my claim that I would vote for Hillary over John McCain."
- Ann Coulter, psychopathic blond bombshell and conservative pundit.

"[John McCain's] nomination will destroy the Republican Party"
-Rush Limbaugh, SUPER popular, SUPER conservative radio host

"Senator McCain is not a conservative...he is not a Reagan Conservative. That, to me, is indisputable."
-Sean Hannity, Fox News host and uber-conservative, complete with feathered bangs and chiseled jaw.

WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?
  • In 2000, he called Evagelical leaders Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson "agents of intolerance." He has since made up with the leaders for, what many assume, are political reasons.
  • In 2002 he co-sponsered McCain-Feingold, a bi-partisan camapign finance reform law, which underminds the GOP belief that money = free speech.
  • He is part of the Senate's "gang of 14" which tried to find compromises over conservative Supreme Court nominations-- how dare he compromise with liberals!
  • He campioned an immigration reform bill with staunch-liberal Ted Kennedy, which would have allowed illegal immigrants to participate in a worker-visa program and ultimately gain citizenship.
  • In 2001, he opposed Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy because he said that they were not accompanied by necessary cuts in government spending. Recently, however, he voted to make the cuts PERMENANT.
  • A former POW in Vietnam, McCain opposes all forms of torture -- the horror!

it makes me so mad that the republican party has become SOO conservative that they can't accept a candidate who isn't uber-chisled-feathered-hyper-conservative like them...

its good for the democratic party though, so for now i dont mind that much

I'm not sure...the GOP was definitely backing Romney 100% before he dropped out (although God knows why! -*cough*flip-flopper*cough*), but I think the McCain beef is so deep-rooted that Romeny's endorsement won't help much.
I guess you don't forgive and forget when someone calls you an "agent of intolerance."

While a divisive Republican party is technically good for Dems, a McCain nomination could really hurt democrats in the general election, particularly if Hillary is the nominee because she is anathema to so many independents.

ALTHOUGH! I would like to personally speak with anyone who would vote for McCain over Hillary but not Barack in the general election...that means you, Alex Poole.
